The frequency of independent testing is determined by the company’s written policy, with most AML programs requiring reviews every 12 to 18 months. Regular independent reviews are critical to maintaining compliance with Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) guidelines. Failure to adhere to the required testing intervals is one of the most common citations found during a Washington state DFI audit.
